Doug Perrine is a self-styled writer and photographer specializing in marine life, currently based in Kona, Hawaii. Widely regarded as one of the world's foremost marine wildlife photographers, his work has won a number of awards, including the prestigious BBC/ British Gas Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award.

Doug Perrine's photography appears frequently in calendars, posters, postcards, and other graphic products, and has been published in hundreds of books and magazines, including National Geographic, Audubon, Smithsonian, Time, Natural History, Newsweek, Omni, National Wildlife, Ocean Realm and Wildlife Conservation. He is the author of the books "Sharks" (1995), "Mysteries of the Sea" (1997), "Sharks and Rays of the World" (1999), "Ripley's Whales & Dolphins" (2000), and "Ripley's Coral Colony Creatures" (2000).

Perrine is president of Innerspace Visions, a stock photography library in Kona, Hawaii, which specializes in marine wildlife and represents other major marine wildlife photographers. He also works occasionally as a consultant for filming projects, including jobs for National Geographic Television, the Discovery Channel, and other broadcasters. Doug's work as a shark photographer was featured in "Sharks of the Deep Blue" on Discovery Channel's 1999 "Shark Week" broadcast.
