Carlos Eyles - Photography
For seven years, Carlos sailed single-handedly among the islands of California, where he lived almost entirely off the sea. He has traveled extensively throughout the South Pacific and recorded his experiences in books and magazine articles.
Carlos Eyles is well known as a prolific writer and photographer in addition to his status as one of the elite in the sport of freediving. Born in Oahu, the ocean has influenced his entire life, from his early career in freediving and spearfishing to writing and teaching. In his photographic work, Carlos focuses on marine mammals and sharks. He became deeply connected to the ocean world as a child growing up on the shores of Hawaii. As a freediving big game spearfisherman and later as an underwater photographer, Carlos has covered much of this planet's oceans and seas - a lifetime journey, which has also paralleled the decline of the ocean's great wealth.
