Southern Californian Wade Koniakowsky’s art is clearly inspired by his love for the ocean. Always close to the beach, Wade has been a surfer since 1966, and has developed a deep reservoir of ocean and surf imagery to draw from. “Inspiration comes in many forms - from Griffin surf cartoons to California Impressionism to watching the sky while surfing Swamis”, says Wade. Wade’s love for painting began in college but eventually gave way to the more practical career in commercial art. Coming full circle many years later, he’s now dedicated to creating work that reflects his own life. Wade Koniakowsky’s work has been featured in Graphis, Art Direction, Communication Arts, and Print. His work has been recognized by the New York Art Director’s Club, The Houston Art Director's Club, The Los Angeles Advertising Club and The Clios. He is a guest lecturer at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
