On Little Cayman Island, Nassau Groupers get together in mass proportions to mate once a year in February.  In fact, the whole population of several thousand groupers of adult breeding age on the entire island come together in one spot.  This turns out to be an unfortunate way of doing things, as fisherman have found these breeding sites and drastically overfished them to point of near extinction.  The protected spawning aggregation on Little Cayman Island is one of the last productive aggregation sites left in the Caribbean.

Jim Hellemn has made a career out of inventing ways to capture the spectacular colors and details of coral reefs. His images have appeared in National Geographic magazine, the American Museum of Natural History and are featured in several large-scale public attractions.
