This pod of Orcas was caught in the deep shadow of Vancouver Island, British Columbia - their exhales catching the early morning light.

For seven years, Carlos sailed single-handedly among the islands of California, where he lived almost entirely off the sea. He has traveled extensively throughout the South Pacific and recorded his experiences in books and magazine articles.
